Nectar

The honey-eaters made me laugh out loud,

Only three but they sounded like a crowd!

Fluttering and chirping keen for that nectar to sip

The aloe vera flowers on a whippy 1.3 meter stick.

The battle eventually won

As one stood half-way on it in the sun

And drank from the lower flowers with fun

His weight bent the stalk over

Where his mates could sip

The higher flowers from the safety of my rail.

Mother nature’s ingenuity can’t fail

Then off they all flew with a flip of their tail!

the tiny honey eaters are too skittish for a photo

so this is one of the larger honey eaters that are enjoying the nectar of my flowers

    1. Hey it’s winter here and I have three huge flower stalks with more growing off each one. It is north facing and flowers often, how lucky am I?! Did take me ages to get him used to me being there to get that shot!
