Far too many years I travelled here and there
Fascinated by different cultures and faire
I mingled and met
Colorful characters and the odd pet

Yet experience indicates that external conditions
Don’t necessarily improve our own dispositions
True happiness and satisfaction come from deep within
Not stopping to reflect is a sin …

So travel the world
But beware what may be unfurled
Connect with your inner wealth
It is the key to resilience and real health!

Worldly matters are just another distraction
Splintering and causing internal infraction
Pause a moment, quiet your mind
Peace, calm and satisfaction you can find!

For the real journey is to know our selves
To find purpose and meaning in life
Mindful that we don’t cause others strife.
Being aware, having kind interactions

For this inner odyssey we don’t need funds
Visas, passports or planes
Luggage, buses or trains
Join me if you dare on this powerful self-exploration!

Daily Prompt:  Pause – from my archives

    1. Bun you have so much inner wealth! And that is far more important than external wealth, although it does help if we can pay the bills …

Your cacti story is magnificent! As a plant lover I have some real concerns but as a writer you are pure gold. You rock.

      1. Yes, I worked three jobs to travel on a shoe string … these current budget travellers have no real idea!
Didn’t realise I was on a quest, needed age and distance to understand it.
But while ever we let our emotions rule us we will continue to behave badly regardless of the exotic settings.

  1. So true Kate, these past years I have made a conscious effort to create a life I don’t need to escape from via holidays, and yes it starts within and is ultimately a much more difficult and effort-involving journey than a quick holiday fix.
    have a great new year,

  2. Yeh, so glad you got it Dagmar! It is a really tough ask getting to know ourselves warts and all, why we react. Busyness is just our way of avoiding it so we overload ourselves with distractions.
Much thanks for reading, appreciate it.
