Life seems full of farewells
I’ve farewelled my youth, my virginity and father,
I’ve farewelled Blackie my dog and the odd partner.
I’ve left jobs and towns amid fond farewells
But none are full stops, they are merely pauses.
In my memory I can revisit them all
Sure details distort over time
My version may be coloured but that’s fine
No need to cry
when we say goodbye
Know that they live on in our heart
And be joyful for every new start!
